Daniel graduated from Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina last month and is currently in his advanced training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. We were hoping he'd be home for Thanksgiving, but his advanced training started a week late so he's stuck there until until Dec. 1st. We're said about that, but it'll be nice having him home.
I included some photos we took of Daniel while Susan and I were in South Carolina. It was an impressive sight to see nearly 600 solders graduating. You'll notice in a couple of photos that Daniel is wearing, shall we say...a rather odd looking set of glasses. The Army issues those glasses because their nearly indestructible - the solders hate them and refer to the as BCG's (Birth Control Glasses). The BCG's are given that name because no girl would get within a 100 feet of a solder wearing them...which would prevent a lot of "things" from happening I guess. For the video clip be sure you turn up the sound. Artillery and mortar simulators were being thrown into the smoke - they were REALLY loud. Daniel said that they used those explosions the week before in their combat simulation...for hours one night. I guess getting sleep was a little difficult as hundreds of those things were going off.
