Last week we got our first official snow fall of the year. We had an idea that the storm was coming, we even knew that we were supposed to get snow. What we didn't know was that we'd get two days of snow and that our dogs - who were raised in sunny California - would initially refuse to go outside to "go potty". It took some coxing to get them to go out but finally they did. Well, at least until they got about 2 feet out the door and realized that it was so cold their drinking water was frozen for them to make a quick u-turn and decide to "go potty" some other time...like June.
The funny thing was, once the dogs went outside and actually stepped in the snow and realized how soft it was, they chased each other around and around the yard and thought it wasn't so bad.
We all had on-the-job training driving in the snow without any incidents so we felt pretty blessed. All in all, the snow was beautiful. I know, I know, wait until it keeps snowing and it piles up higher and higher - we know it's coming, but for now...it's pretty cool! By the time the weekend was over all the snow on the valley floors was gone and the sun came out and warmed the place up. We're supposed to have another storm some time next week.
The house is progressing very nicely. Drywall and driveways go in this week and then the interior finish work will begin. Our builder still thinks we'll be before Christmas, but Thanksgiving is definitely not an option. Still, we're very happy things are going so well - we are VERY blessed indeed.
