Alan came over the other day and asked if Daniel and I wanted to go shooting. Of course, Daniel was in for the trip before Alan had finished his sentence but I was holding out. I thought, great, we need to get gas, take food, grab a map, take a tent and provisions for a very long drive, make an official request to some group of environmental wackos and in about 2 hours we should be somewhere acceptable...just like California.
I asked Alan how far away the place was that we would go shooting and his reply peaked my interest a bit. He said, "about 10 minutes". Holy cow I thought, what are we waiting for! Sure enough, we piled into the truck, drove down the road, and what do you know - about 1o minutes down the road we pulled off a dirt county road and sure enough...we were shooting.
I was proud of Alan for being diligent and grabbing some water bottles for our little outing and being a good boy scout by being prepared. I later learned that his preparation wasn't to ensure our comfort and survival but it so he could shoot at something that would splatter when it was hit. I should have known....
