Already September

I can't believe September is already here. It seems like just yesterday that it was January and I was shoveling snow! Around the Grimm home we've just been trying to keep the status quo. Alan and Alexis have moved in for a little while as Alan works on this semester of school and Alexis works in St. George. They get to save some money, Alexis is closer to work - that will be important when it snows - and we get to have some company.

We planted a garden in later spring - that's a whole other story in itself. Once the garden "took" it grew like crazy. We've enjoyed green beans and peppers, a few - and I mean a very few - peas, and we're waiting for the watermelons to ripen. Rabbits have been giving us grief and have been eating the blossoms off of our cantaloupe plants. Alan quickly and with great excitement took care of that problem...

Having Alan around helped me start another project - overhauling the engine on the Jeep. The 1991 Jeep Wrangler YJ has been a gutless wonder. It lacked power, sounded rough when it ran, and the clutch was slipping very badly. So, we pulled the engine and began the overhaul process. We're hoping to have it back in this month.

Daniel is still at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and will be finishing basic training later this month. Susan and I will be attending his graduation on September 23. Daniel loves the training he's getting and the opportunity to push himself farther than he thought possible - but he admits that he REALLY dislikes stupid people. Hmmm...I wonder where he gets that from?
